Program Manager at Yayasan Palung

Yayasan Palung (Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Program) works to protect endangered wild orangutans living in and around Gunung Palung National Park in Kalimantan Barat from threats posed by human activities. Based in Ketapang, Yayasan Palung encourages environmental stewardship within villages bordering the national park through education and community outreach programs and helps strengthen institutions responsible for enforcing existing poaching and habitat protection laws. Yayasan Palung currently has a position open for a manager of its Environmental Education program.

Reporting to the Field Director, the Education Team manager will oversee the development of our new Environmental Education Center in Sukadana. The Center will be a place to educate school groups on conservation issues, and encourage local communities to develop sustainable income-generating activities. We need a experienced conservationist who can effectively lead and motivate a five-member team.
General Requirements:

* Relevant bachelors' degree and at least six years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Dedication to conservation issues, especially with experience working on issues related to orangutans and/or Kalimantan
* Experience in education and/or alternative income programs
* Strong organizational skills, including strategic thinking and the ability to effectively create and execute budgets
* Ability to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, high school students, local officials and community leaders
