Post Doctoral Research Associate in Molecular Cell Biology
Faculty of Life Sciences
Closing date: 26/04/2007
Reference: LS/043/07
A post-doctoral biochemist/molecular biologist is required to join Professor Neil Bulleid's laboratory on a collaborative project with Professor Marin Humphries to study the biosynthesis and activation of the integrin receptor. The expression of functional integrin molecules is a highly orchestrated process that results in the priming and activation of the molecule at the cell surface. Throughout this process, changes in the conformation of the molecule play a key role in facilitating intracellular trafficking and in converting a passive receptor into a high affinity, highly specific adhesion molecule. The project aims to understand the key stages in the conversion of inactive to active receptors.
